UK TEAM SHINES AT FIRST IFBB ONLINE CONTEST

by John Plummer

Five UKBFF athletes excelled at the first IFBB online competition, with newcomer Louise Roberts taking first place in wellness in her first ever contest.

The IFBB, which dates back to 1946 and is the world's largest bodybuilding and fitness federation, organised the event in response to the global coronavirus pandemic. The UKBFF is the only organisation affiliated to the IFBB in the UK.

The event gave competitors the opportunity to compete in the safety of their own homes and have their physiques judged by a public vote.

Two UK athletes achieved top three places with pride of place going to Louise Roberts, better known on Instagram as Louise Fitcoach, who won wellness on her debut.

The UK was strongly represented in bikini fitness, where established international competitors Anne Bulmer and Laura Colledge took third and fourth respectively. Liam Gol was fourth in men's physique, two places ahead of fellow UKBFF athlete Kurt Brogan.

Louise, who wants to compete in this year's Arnold Classic Europe, said she was over the moon to have won after deciding to enter at short notice. “It's given me more confidence to go forward,” she says

Congratulations to all five UK competitors who took part in this pioneering event.

UKBFF members can now apply through the federation to take part in the first IFBB European e-Championships. Registration is open and closes on 5 June. More details are available here: https://ifbb.com/1st-european-e-championship/?fbclid=IwAR3rx2uQOTpjYucCKehFatTJQbd9JppHc2Ko-P1UmvGMLlx7L1U1SnoYuh4

Remember, there will be no UKBFF public events until at least October this year due to the virus.

And the IFBB has rescheduled the Arnold Classic Europe. It will now take place from 11 to 13 December in Seville, Spain.
